The close battle came to an end. Dennis staggered to the nearest corner and used the turnbuckles to keep himself standing. He was beat up and exhausted. The audience rose to their feet and clapped their feet for both men.
Madison looked up at him from outside the ring.
Madison: ...Worth it?
Dennis: Totally.
Dennis put all his weight on the bottom rope, allowing his manager to enter the ring. After grabbing for a mic, she did so Once the belts were handed to the refs. She handed him the mic after getting in the ring.
Dennis resumed his position of leaning against the turnbuckles, otherwise he would fall over from exhaustion.
Dennis: I got something to day before I go vomit. Took enough gut wrenches and kicks to the stomach to last me a lifetime. So I'll be brief. We make a good team, yea?
Madison slowly nods back to him.
Dennis: We've been through a lot in one season together. All those drives we had to make to areas across the country because we couldn't afford plane tickets.
Madison: Because of your attire…
Madison: And mind. And the entrances. The-
Dennis: ...right. Moving on.
The audience laughed.
Dennis: It would have been easy to jump ship during the rough patches. But you didn't. The last few months have left me feeling a certain kind of way. About the people. About Rev. Inc. The war...and you.
Dennis kneeled with the mic still in hand and looked up to Madison.
Dennis: I fully expect our early success to come rear it's ugly head one day. Good things don't last long in OCW. Our fall will be one of epic and glorious proportions for sure. But I can rebuild if you're with me. Because I know what we have here can be one of the few good things that does last.
Madison had a panicked look on her face as she looked from side to side.
Dennis: I had no idea what a friend zone was until Buddy Burns said it was my name. It's a dark and awful place...next to Smythe’s career in OCW history.
Dennis: I don't want to be there anymore. Madison Cox. In front of Turmoil and the audience at home, I gotta know. No pressure.
The audience starts to cheer.
Dennis: ...will you-
Madison: Wait!! It's too soon. Have you lost your mind?! What are you doing? I'm not ready. We aren't ready. We need time! These sort of things can't be rushed -
Dennis blinked several times.
Dennis: ...Are you...saying no?
Madison: I'm saying...it's not the right time. For either of us.
Dennis: Ah..I see.
Dennis frowned.
Dennis: Well, this is embarrassing…
Madison: ….
Dennis: Well, I suppose there are uh...worse fates than being turned down for dinner.
Madison: What?
Dennis: Dinner, Madison.
Madison: What?
Dennis: Like a date.
The audience replied with ‘what’.
Dennis: Going steady,
The audience replied with ‘what’.
Madison: Oh...you bastard! That changes everything.
Dennis blinks up at her.
Madison: Who gets on a knee to ask a woman out to dinner? It's confusing!. It's weird. Not the norm. Doesn't make sense! Why the hell did you kneel?! I feel Light headed.
Dennis: Because I'm close to vomiting…?
Madison: ...You're so awkward. Don't ever change.
Dennis stands up, holding his stomach.
Dennis: So you're saying there's a chance?
Before Madison can reply, a familiar theme hits...
Still not over yet!
