OCWFED VS. THE WORLD
CODY HAGEN vs. CHRIS GREENE
The eighteenth (nineteenth if you get Sensation going enough) is well underway, but you wouldn’t know that from here, a camera facing the wall of a dressing room, no one in sight, no performers, no cameraman, no Jim Black, no Stacy Clark, nothing but that wall and a chair, until the click of a locking door can be heard, and someone walks into frame, tonights number one contender for the CCW Championship, he sits in that chair, a small microphone attached to his shirt, and he faces the camera.
Wrex: I asked for a few moments of tonight's broadcast, simply to finish what I started talking about a few weeks ago. This time, no interruptions, no Garcia, no one barging in, just me.
Wrex: Quartz you said you don’t want to hear my reasoning, for what I’ve done.. And that’s fair, I wouldn’t want to hear it either, but I think you should listen, listen and understand why tonight is happening, and why for the first time in a long time, you should be worried.
Wrex: Doc, Rust, Tony, Kassidy, Nate Ortiz, what do these men have in common?
Wrex: One, they’ve all fought you for the championship, they all put their heart and soul into being the one to beat you, to hold that title in the air and say they’re the face of CCW.
Wrex: And two? They all lost, none of them could do it, no matter how many were in the ring, no matter the advantage, the stipulation, none of them could beat you..
Wrex: But there’s a third thing they all had in common, they wanted that title, whether it was to prove something, finish a score, or lord it over the company, they wanted to be CCW champion..
Wrex: Now, what do I have that they don’t? I’m not as fast as Doc or Tony, not as strategic as Rustin or Hayes, I’m not a legend of this business like Ortiz.
Wrex: No, what I have, that they didn’t.. Is that I don’t want the title, I don’t.. The amount of suffering that’s brought my way, the injuries, the scraping and clawing to the top, ripped away from me in minutes, then months if not years of working back.. I don’t want that.
Wrex: I need it.
Wrex: I need that championship, more than anything else in this world right now, you see every day I wake up, I look at that calender, I look at that clock, I look at the hour glass of my career slowly draining away, and then I have to ask myself.. What was it all for? Have I done enough that when it’s empty, I can wipe away my hands, say I did a pretty damn good job of this and walk off into the sunset?
Wrex: I’m looking at it right now Quartz, it’s there in front of me, draining away.. And all I can think is.. No.
Wrex: I’ve not done enough, I’m nowhere near ready to say I’m done, I’ve held gold, I’ve won accolades, I’ve main evented Lution.. I’ve done.. So much, that most people will never get to even dream about, nevermind come close to achieving.. And it’s not enough.
Wrex: I need that title, I need to hold that title, I need to take that title for as long as I can, prove I can be the face of Turmoil, the face of CCW, and do it right this time.. That’s what I need.
Wrex: And that’s what you stand in front of.
Wrex: But.. that’s not all, is it? That you’re in my way of? Remember where we are? The eighteenth anniversary show.. Two thousand, two hundred and ninety five days, you follow that trail back, where do you end up? The twelfth, the show I wrestled my first match here on, a last minute replacement in a triple threat match, jerking the curtain because someone else didn’t turn up.. God this show really did used to be the wild west of OCW, huh?
Wrex: I won that night, then I won again, and again, and again.. and again. Five victories, a title defense, a title win and a kumite for good measure, five and oh.. Six on Ryu logic.
Wrex: Since I love numbers, here’s another, one thousand, one hundred and twenty nine, the last time I ever held that title,
Wrex: Inness, Ijitsu, whatever you come calling yourself tonight.. Just remember this, you’re stepping into a match you’ve never had to fight before. Not some new stipulation, not overwhelming odds, just me.. A six year streak, and the fucking need, to take what you have.. And the absolute willingness to do, whatever I have to, to take it from you.
Wrex: Welcome to the eighteenth anniversary, welcome to my show and welcome to the last day of your reign.
