Standing backstage is Jim Black. He’s got a classic goofy smile on his face. As he welcomes his guest for the night.
Jim Black: Ladies and gentlemen, incredible Anniversary show it’s been so far. Insane that we’ve been here for 16 years going strong!
Jim Black: One of the reasons for this success and longevity is the continued emergence of new stars and up and coming talent… My guest tonight perhaps embodies this more than anyone on the roster, ladies and gentlemen, TY Sparks!
The crowd is very happy to see their favorite Prince of Flight!
TY walks into frame and gives a reserved and bashful nod to the camera.
Sparks: Thanks Jim and thanks to everyone of the fans for their continued support.
Jim Black: It’s our pleasure, TY. Now, we haven’t seen you return to action on Riot or Turmoil since your matchup with Doc Green tore the house down in the season premier, but you did team with Jerome Hamilton in a winning effort on Ambition. I think the whole world wants to know, just what IS next for the Prince of Flight, TY Sparks?
Sparks: Y’know Jim I don’t quite know what’s next for me but I do know that I’m always on go and ready to fight...
Sparks tries to get through his last few words, but seems distracted by something behind Jim, just off camera.
Sparks: What, uh. What is going on over here?
The camera pans to see Ryu “Spider” Matsumoto drinking a cup of coffee. Behind him stands Ijitu Quartz, arms crossed, donning his PRISTINE SUNGLASSES and an annoyed scowl.
RYU: Oh, don’t mind us, just enjoying the view.
Sparks & Jim Black: ...What?
RYU: Get your mind out of the gutter, Jimothy.
Ryu smirks at Black and TY and nods deviously before walking off out of sight. Quartz remains for a moment, removing his PRISTINE SUNGLASSES and staring daggers at TY Sparks, before he eventually follows Spider.
Jim Black: What… was that all about?
Sparks: I… I don’t quite know Jim, but like I was saying, I’m always willing to fight and put on a show for the fans. I may not get the job done sometimes, but I will always put on a show.
Jim Black: Well TY, I’m sure I’m not the only one who is looking forward to what is next for TY Sparks. Back to you guys in the sky-booth, boss!
The scene ends with a smiling, yet slightly confused TY Sparks shaking Jim’s hand and peering down the set where Ryu and Quartz stood moments ago.
The Camera Pans To The Ramp!
The scene opens with DOC stumbling through the backstage area. Shaken, beaten, battered, he is aided by a crew member who struggles as the former champion struggles to maintain his balance.
He falls to his knees, spluttering violently, gagging and heaving on the floor, holding his ribs.
DOC: No, no, no, no, NO! This isn’t right, this isn’t good.
He stammers and mumbles as he tries to get his words out. Leaning against a nearby crate, he forces himself to his feet.
OCW Crew: Come on, Doc, we need to get you checked out by the medical team.
DOC: To hell with the medical team! I don’t need- ARGH!
He winces and doubles over again, holding his ribs.
OCW Crew: You are in no condition to think about wrestling right now. Come on now, we need to assess your damage first.
DOC looks up at the crew member, glassy eyed, with a look of defiance on his face.
DOC: Tell that doctor to stick his assessment where the sun doesn't shine! I’m fine… I… promise.
He falls forward again, planting his hands to support him and coughs violently, small drips of blood escaping his mouth and hitting the stone floor.
DOC: Fuck.
