There’s a lot of commotion in the access ramp area for the arena as an ambulance begins to pull up. Strapped to a trolley, his neck in a brace is one half of Lucha Country, a tag team champion, Mark Reese.
He hasn’t moved since the incident took place, only removed by the paramedic staff once they deemed it safe to do so. The ambulance doors swing open, and the trolley is rolled straight in off of the specially designed loading bay.
Sue Plex, Mark’s cousin, can be seen trying to console her crying aunt, Mama Reese. The paramedics can be seen motioning them over, explaining that there can be only two in the ambulance due to space restrictions for the crew.
Mama Reese looks horrified, glancing at Papa Reese, who has yet to move from the top of the ramp area, staring at his son.
Papa Reese: It’s okay Elizabeth, you and Sue go with Mark.
Elizabeth Reese: Joshua don’t do anything stupid.
Joshua Reese: Don’t worry. Just go with him, he needs you. Go.
The family share a heartbreaking embrace and the two chosen ones enter the ambulance, the doors close and as it pulls away we see Mark’s unresponsive figure being fussed over by the crew. Joshua Reese takes a long and slow breath as it pulls around the corner.
The cameras linger just long enough and the father clenches his left hand before turning back towards the arena.
Joshua Reese: I made no promise…
As Papa Reese heads back into the arena, he picks up a piece of scaffolding, proving his son's great strength might just be an inherited trait.
The scene opens at one of the many backstage interview areas in the building tonight. Jim Black is already set up for his next interview, though I’m sure he’d rather be anywhere else right now.
Jim: Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m currently joined by one the six men who were involved in the-
The microphone is immediately ripped from his hands as Wrex appears in the frame of the cameras. No insults are thrown as he just stares directly into the camera.
Wrex: Five hundred and five days. That’s how long it’s been since I held the CCW championship. A year and a half since I carried gold. Today was supposed to change that. Today was the day that I finally ended this drought, finally found myself again. Except that didn’t happen, did it?
Wrex: Here I stand, same place as we were at the Clash over a year ago, hell lower, at least then I was still the main event.
Wrex: I have tried everything in my power to finally get us back on track, and nothing worked.
Wrex: I’ve been here nearly six years now. I’ve been in this business for over a decade. And what do I have to show for it? A ranch in the middle of fucking nowhere? A school where I’m forced to prepare the people who’re going to try and take my place, take my life’s work from me?
Wrex: I’m used to having to piece us back together after he fucks everything up. But today? Another fucking Lution disappointment? I’m done.. I’m done fixing all these fucking mistakes. I’m done being the face behind this fat laughing stock. I’m done playing second fiddle to others. I’m done.
Wrex: Take a good long look you fucking maggots. This is the last time you’ll ever see Wrex in OCW again.
He drops the mic, slamming his gear from the night in the bin as he heads for the door.
